Volunteer Program

Joining the Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) Volunteer Program offers a unique and impactful opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others while enriching your own. We rely on passionate volunteers to enhance our programs and services for incarcerated individuals, helping them on their journey toward rehabilitation and growth.

As an approved volunteer, you can contribute to a wide range of initiatives, including educational programs, faith-based and non-faith-based services, 12-step/self-help programs, yoga, and mindfulness/meditation sessions. Your involvement can have a profound impact, providing vital support and encouragement to those who need it most.

Volunteer Eligibility Requirements
 

Prospective volunteers must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Possess a valid government issued photo identification card
  • Interview with the volunteer group leader, senior chaplain, or volunteer coordinator
  • Complete all required application materials
  • Complete a TB test (two tests required with the initial application and one test annually thereafter), except for Incidental Volunteers, who are only required to complete a TB test if they volunteer less than six hours per month.
  • Undergo a background check
  • If previously incarcerated with a felony conviction, complete the Ex-Offender Certification and Employment Recommendation form for approval
  • Read, understand, and adhere to the Agency's departmental rules and policies outlined in Department Order 204, Volunteer Services
  • Complete Annual training for volunteers from the Arizona Department of Administration

    Note: Some volunteer positions may require specific certificates or licenses

Prospective volunteers may be disqualified if they are:

  • Currently approved as a visitor for any ADCRR incarcerated individual
  • Currently waiting for visitor approval for any ADCRR Incarcerated Individual
