Inmate Death Notification - Rene Valenzuela

FLORENCE, AZ – Rene Valenzuela, 54, (ADCRR #207455) died on December 16, 2023 from an apparent act of self-harm by hanging.

Prison staff discovered Valenzuela unresponsive in his housing unit and conducted life-saving measures until paramedics arrived onsite. Valenzuela was transported to Florence Hospital where medical staff pronounced him deceased.

Inmate Valenzuela was sentenced out of Pima County in 2006 for: Child or Vulnerable Adult Abuse, Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child, Sexual Conduct with a Minor, Molestation of a Child, Sexual Abuse, Furnishing Obscene Material to a Minor, and Kidnapping.

His assigned housing location was Arizona State Prison Complex-Eyman in Florence, Arizona.

All inmate deaths are investigated in consultation with the county medical examiner’s office.
