INMATE DEATH NOTIFICATION - CURT COOPER

TUCSON (Thursday, August 11, 2022) – Inmate Curt Cooper, 52, ADCRR #162122, died on August 11, 2022 at Banner University Medical Center.

On August 6, 2022, staff at ASPC-Tucson observed that Inmate Cooper had injuries consistent with being involved in a physical altercation.

Upon medical evaluation, it was determined inmate Cooper needed to be transported to Banner University Medical Center for further medical treatment of a head injury.

The Tucson Fire Department arrived onsite and administered Narcan to Inmate Cooper and also conducted an EKG.  

Inmate Cooper was then transported to the Medical Center's ICU where life-saving measures continued before he died on August 11, 2022.   

An investigation is currently being conducted by Criminal Investigators with ADCRR. The department intends to fully pursue criminal prosecution of any suspect(s) identified to be involved in this case.

Inmate deaths are also investigated in consultation with the county medical examiner’s office.

Inmate Cooper was admitted to ADCRR custody in 2018 after he was sentenced out of Pinal County for Aggravated Assault and Misconduct Involving Weapons.

His assigned housing location was ASPC-Tucson.
