ADCRR Announces New Deputy Directors (10/15/2024)

After several months of deliberation, Director Ryan Thornell is pleased to announce the appointment of new Deputy Directors Ashley Oddo and John Bacello. These two seasoned leaders will continue the Department’s commitment to reimagine correctional practices, including prioritizing public safety, rehabilitation, and personal and professional investment in ADCRR staff.

Deputy Director Oddo previously served as the ADCRR’s General Counsel. Her strong problem-solving skills, which helped her navigate challenges associated with the Jensen Injunction, policy revisions, and organizational change management, will be utilized greatly in her new role.

Deputy Director Barcello previously served as the ADCRR’s Inspector General. His leadership has helped tackle growing contraband issues, needed criminal prosecutions, and system-wide accountability. His commitment to collaboration with the Arizona law enforcement community will remain vital.

Deputy Directors Oddo and Barcello will spend the next several weeks meeting with staff, visiting prisons and community reentry offices, and building upon the transformation of the ADCRR in preparation for 2025.
