ADCRR Announces Members Selected for Director's Advisory Committee

Today, the Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation and Reentry announces the appointment of eight members to the Director’s Advisory Committee, selected from among a wide range of issue experts across the State of Arizona.

The ADCRR extends its sincere gratitude to the many qualified candidates who submitted their interest and applications to serve on the Advisory Committee. The support for ADCRR’s  approach towards reimagining corrections is strong, allowing the Department to continue improving the system.  

Tasked with providing advisory feedback and recommendations to Director Ryan Thornell, members of this committee bring a variety of knowledge, lived experience, and insights in areas critical to the mission and vision of the ADCRR. 

The Department is pleased to congratulate the following individuals on their appointment to the Director’s Advisory Committee and look forward to their advisement to the Department on enhancing its work in the focus areas listed below: 

  • Jessica Bruner, Arouet Foundation – Women’s Services
  • Dr. Sara Salek, Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Roya Health  – Substance Use Disorder
  • Derrick Beetso, Director of the Indian Gaming and Tribal Self-Governance Programs at ASU’s Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law – Tribal Relations
  • Dr. Jo Jorgenson, Rio Salado Community College, Adjunct Faculty – Education
  • Reetika Dhawan, CEO of Entrepreneurial College and VP of Workforce and Healthcare, Arizona Western College  – Vocation/Workforce Development 
  • Tonya Martell – Molina Healthcare,  Reentry
  • Patricia Plum,  MSW, LCSW, Owner of Imagine Therapy, PLLC – Peer Mentorship 
  • Jim Stringham, CEO, Banner Health Plans – Mental Health Services

In honor of Second Chance Month, Director Thornell and the ADCRR look forward to the Advisory Committee’s first meeting in April at the Department’s Central Office in downtown Phoenix.
