Introduction and Mission Statement
Our mission is to promote public safety across the Perryville Complex through effective correctional practices while transforming current perspectives by adopting a gender-responsive approach. We strive to empower individuals to overcome challenges and reach their goals by offering trauma-informed care and fostering a safe, supportive environment tailored to the unique needs of incarcerated women.
What is Women Services?
The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation, and Reentry (ADCRR) Perryville Complex is committed to offering a wide range of services aimed at facilitating the rehabilitation and successful reintegration of women within the correctional system. Our focus is on evaluating our current policies and procedures to ensure that we implement the most effective practices that address their unique needs, personal growth, and minimize recidivism.
Rehabilitation Programs
Women in Recovery: A Woman's Addiction Workbook
Women and girls are experiencing addiction at unprecedented rates, often driven by distinct factors compared to men, such as body image issues, trauma, violence, and relationships. This empowering, strength-focused workbook is designed to assist women in examining the root causes of their addiction, recognizing harmful life patterns, and beginning their recovery journey.
Career Paths with Televerde Foundation
The Career PATHS program is a six-month online, in-person and virtual program that provides incarcerated women the training, development, and certification necessary to become customer service, inside sales and computer tech professionals. The program includes curriculum provided by IvyTech Community College, LinkedIn, Factor8, and Cisco.
Arouet Foundation C.A.S.E Academy for Women
Arouet's C.A.S.E. Tech is an innovative program designed to equip each participant with valuable skills in the technology sector. Participants will gain expertise in areas such as IT Support, Project Management, UX Design, Cybersecurity, eCommerce, Business Intelligence, or Data Analytics. The program also offers Professional Certifications in high-demand fields, comprehensive wrap-around services, and personalized employment and financial coaching.
Power Paws Assistance Dogs Training Program
Distinctive and meaningful rehabilitation program for incarcerated individuals by matching them with dogs that require training and socialization. Inmates chosen for the program receive specialized instruction to care for and train these dogs, preparing them to become therapy or service animals for the community.
This initiative not only provides inmates with essential skills in dog behavior, obedience training, grooming, and healthcare, but also nurtures empathy, patience, and a renewed sense of purpose.

- 12 bed special needs unit housing patients that require assistance with ADLs

Wrong to Strong
Personal Trainer Program dedicated to empowering individuals to transform their lives.
Power and Purpose Boot Camp
Boot camp style classes offered to women at San Carlos Unit. Women are able to work out in an outside setting while learning about nutritional health and wellness offered by Exercise Science Interns from Glendale Community College.
Volunteer led programs / Family Reunification
Mother and Infant Bonding Program
A program for pregnant women under ADCRR Care offers weekly check-ins with staff after pregnancy confirmation. It allows bonding with newborns for 72 hours in the hospital and provides prenatal education, nutrition guidance, and emotional support. The initiative also includes resources for post-natal care, supporting the health and well-being of incarcerated women while emphasizing family connections and personal growth.
Girl Scouts Beyond Bars
Provide the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE) to Girl Scouts and their incarcerated caregivers; building courage, confidence, and character. Demonstrate positive peer and adult relationships, and provide life skills to promote healthy relationships during and beyond incarceration.
Get on the Bus
A program that provides transportation, meals, activities, and other resources to help children visit their incarcerated parents.
Trip P Parenting with Hushabye Nursery
Evidence based practice, recognized by Child Services agencies worldwide as the preeminent parenting class available. Triple P is a way of teaching parents how to work with their children to manage behavior issues. It also teaches parents to self-assess and learn new ways to interact with their children in positive ways and to have positive outcomes when there are needs to modify a child's behavior that generally leads to confrontation and frustration.
Arouet Foundation (Bend Don't Break)
Bend Don't Break is a program implemented by Arouet Foundation. A stand-alone program aimed at helping individuals cultivate a positive mindset and empowering women to reclaim their lives and embrace new opportunities. Arouet's pre-release program provides education on health and wellness, career preparation, community and family integration, and achieving personal goals.
Yoga Arc
Yoga's Arc has a Foundation - the Yoga's Arc Foundation (YAF) that seeks to bring yoga to persons in need of the benefits of yoga. Yoga improves strength, balance and flexibility. Yoga helps with back pain relief and benefits heart health.
ATHENA (Leading From Within)
Gina's Team is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that provides leadership and self-empowerment training for incarcerated women in Arizona. The training is provided at no cost and all facilitators are volunteers.

Arizona State University Gender Responsive Training
Arizona State University (ASU) has introduced a significant initiative by creating a gender-responsive training program tailored for the Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation, and Reentry (ADCRR). This program aims to equip correctional staff with the crucial skills and knowledge required to effectively address the distinct needs and challenges encountered by incarcerated individuals of different genders.
