Inmate Death Notification – George Morando

FLORENCE (Tuesday, January 10, 2023) – Inmate George Morando, 46, ADCRR #122370, died on January 10, 2023 at Florence Hospital.

On January 10, 2023, staff at ASPC-Eyman discovered Inmate Morando unresponsive in his housing unit with a cloth sheet tied around his neck. Health Unit staff responded and immediately began life-saving measures until Florence Fire Department and AMR paramedics arrived onsite.  Inmate Morando was transported to Florence Hospital alive, but unconscious upon departing the unit.

Later that evening, Inmate Morando was pronounced deceased at Florence Hospital due to asphyxiation to the brain.

An investigation is currently being conducted by Criminal Investigators with ADCRR.

Inmate deaths are also investigated in consultation with the county medical examiner’s office.

Inmate Morando was admitted to ADCRR custody in 2007 after he was sentenced out of Pima County for Second Degree Murder and Unlawful Imprisonment.

His assigned housing location was ASPC-Eyman.
