Sex Offender Education Treatment Services

The Sex Offender Education and Treatment Program (SOETP) is based on a cognitive-behavioral and relapse prevention model of assessment and treatment. Evidence-based treatment and best practices assist the offender in managing sexually exploitative behavior, thereby reducing the risk of re-offending.

Treatment components include psychological testing/assessment, acknowledging responsibility for offending behavior, modifying cognitive distortions, managing deviant sexual urges and impulses, developing victim empathy, enhancing social competencies, and acquiring relapse prevention skills.

Participants are expected and encouraged to take an active role in treatment by attending weekly psycho-educational classes, group therapies, relapse prevention groups, treatment plan reviews, and completing specific homework assignments.
