Office of Continuous Improvement Launched
It is with pleasure that I inform you that we have launched and completed staffing of the Office of Continuous Improvement.
This new office aligns ADC with Governor Ducey’s implementation of the Arizona Management System – an initiative enacting the principles of Lean management across all facets of Arizona state government. This initiative, as it relates to our agency, will bring a dynamically different approach to managing, problem identification, and problem solving as a matter of every day functioning.
As a direct report to my office, the Office of Continuous Improvement Administrator will be instrumental in working with all areas of our agency to accomplish our efforts to meet and exceed the Governor’s expectation of increasing our efficiencies, meeting our mission, decreasing wasted resources, maximizing effort, reducing costs, and increasing our position with the public trust.
I have selected Keith Smith, formerly of Security Operations, to be the Administrator for the Office of Continuous Improvement. With 29 years in corrections, the last four and a half with us at ADC, and a background in Lean, Mr. Smith will ensure the effective implementation and sustainment of this initiative. The position of Senior Lean Coach for this office has been assigned to Ryan Allison, who, while new to our agency, brings a wealth of experience in Lean from the private sector.
Please join me in congratulating Mr. Smith and Mr. Allison. I ask that you provide them your cooperation and support as we move forward in this important and impactful endeavor.
