Honoring Our Veterans

November 9, 2015
Phoenix Veterans Day Parade

As you know, this Wednesday is Veterans Day – a time when we pause to honor and appreciate the service and sacrifice of those who have served our nation in uniform.

ADC is proud to support our veterans, and one way we do that is by participating in the Phoenix Veterans Day Parade.

Every year the Department enters an expertly-crafted float in the parade. Made by inmates from the Barchey Unit at ASPC-Lewis, our float often wins a top award. Additionally, veterans on staff from our 10 complexes, as well as members of our outstanding ADC Honor Guard join in to represent the agency in the annual parade.

Attached is a photo of this year’s float entry, which pays special honor to veterans of the Korean War (also the parade theme).

Information on the parade can be found here: https://honoringazvets.org.

If you are among the many ADC staff who attends the parade, I invite you to take a photo of ADC’s float as you see travel the parade route and share with us. Email it to [email protected] and it may be included in the next issue of the Directions newsletter or on the agency’s @AZCorrections Twitter page.

Thank you,
Charles L. Ryan
